Solide: frequently asked questions

Solide is a strength training app for women and non-binary people, open to anyone. Here are quick answers to the questions we hear most.

What is Solide?

Solide is a resistance training app. It builds a balanced workout each time from bodyweight, dumbbell and machine exercises, lets you log every set, and explains the research behind strength training in short facts with links to the studies.

Who is Solide for?

It is built with women and non-binary people in mind, and it is open to anyone who wants to feel strong, healthy and capable for the long term. There are no appearance goals and no pressure: the measure is how strong and well you feel.

Is Solide a good app for beginners?

Yes. Solide builds the session for you, so you do not need to design a programme, and you can swap any exercise you do not like. See our beginner guide at solide-app.com/beginners for how often to train, how heavy to lift and what a first workout looks like.

Does Solide track my workouts, sets and weights?

Yes. You log sets, repetitions and weight in a couple of taps, and you see what you did last time, including your own notes. Weekly stats, a muscle map and milestones show your progress.

Is Solide free?

It is free to start. An optional monthly subscription unlocks everything. The current price is shown in the App Store and Google Play before you subscribe.

What equipment do I need?

None to begin with. Workouts use bodyweight, dumbbell and machine exercises, so you can train at home or at the gym and swap any exercise for another.

How often should I train with Solide?

Most guidelines, including the World Health Organization, recommend muscle-strengthening on at least 2 days a week. Solide shows weekly goals for each muscle group so you can see what you have trained and what is left, without streaks or guilt.

Does Solide have streaks?

No streaks, and no "toning" or "sculpting" language. Progress is counted in weeks, so missing a day breaks nothing.

Does Solide work without wifi or signal?

Yes. You can start a workout, log sets, add or swap exercises and finish the session with no connection. Everything is saved on your phone and syncs when you are back online. Features that need the internet, such as the Learn section and messages with a coach, need a connection.

What is tendon care?

An optional part of the workout: simple holds and slow calf work at the start of a session, to keep tendons and joints strong. You can turn it on or off.

Where do the facts in Learn come from?

Each fact is a short, plain-language summary of a published study, with a link to the source so you can read it yourself. Many findings are observational or come from small studies, and the text says so where it matters.

Is Solide medical advice?

No. Solide is not a medical device and the content is for information only. Talk to your doctor before starting a new exercise programme, especially if you are pregnant, recovering from an injury or managing a health condition.

Which languages and devices does Solide support?

Solide is available in English, French and Spanish, on iPhone and Android.

Can coaches use Solide with their clients?

Yes. Solide for Coaches lets coaches plan workouts, manage groups and follow client progress. Learn more at solide-app.com/for-coaches.
